WBL All Star GameChanger FAQ
Welcome to the WBL All-Star Tournament! GameChanger will serve as the official scorekeeping tool for all games. Please carefully review the following guidelines for using your team's designated GameChanger account:
Accessing Your Team's Account:
- Individual Team Accounts: Each team has its own pre-assigned GameChanger account for this tournament.
- Login Information: Please find your team's specific login email address in the list provided below these instructions.
- Password: The password for all team accounts is baseball (all lowercase).
- Team Admins & Scorekeepers: Once you log into your team's account for the first time, you can add other coaches or parents as Admins or Scorekeepers for your specific team.
- CRITICAL: Do NOT delete any existing admin users, particularly any named "Wasatch Baseball" (or similar league-designated admin), from your team's account. This access is essential for league administration and oversight.
Scorekeeping Responsibilities & Pre-Game Setup:
- Rosters: Ensure all player names and jersey numbers are accurately entered into your team's roster before your first game begins.
- Official Scorekeeper: The HOME TEAM is responsible for keeping the official score in their GameChanger account.
- Recommended Best Practice: We strongly encourage BOTH teams to score the game simultaneously in their respective GameChanger accounts. This helps ensure accuracy and provides a backup. Tournament officials will refer to the designated home team's GameChanger as the official record if discrepancies arise.
Setting Home & Away Teams (After the Pre-Game Coin Flip):
A coin flip before each game will determine the home and away teams. The scorekeeper for the team that WINS THE COIN FLIP TO BE HOME is responsible for ensuring GameChanger reflects this correctly before any plays are scored.
Instructions for the Scorekeeper of the DESIGNATED HOME TEAM:
(Perform these steps after the coin flip and before recording the first pitch/play):
- Log into your team's GameChanger account and open the correct scheduled tournament game to start scoring.
- Observe the Initial Assignment: GameChanger will initially show one team as Home and one as Away based on how the tournament schedule was created.
- If Your Team is NOT Listed as Home (but you won the flip):
- Once you are in the scorekeeping screen (where you see the field, lineups, and scoring buttons):
- Look for the Menu as shown in the screenshot below.
- From the Menu, select the option that says "Swap Sides," "Switch Home/Away," or a similar phrase. This will flip the Home and Away team designations.
- You will need to confirm this action.
- Verify Correction: After using "Swap Sides," double-check that your team is now correctly designated as the HOME team on the scorekeeping screen. The other team should now be listed as Away.
- CRUCIAL TIMING & WARNING:
- This "Swap Sides" action MUST be performed BEFORE you record any pitches, hits, outs, or any other game event.
- Attempting to swap sides AFTER plays have been scored will likely RESET the game, and all previously entered scoring data for that game will be LOST.
- If you accidentally score a play before swapping sides, you may need to undo that play (if possible and if it doesn't lock the state) or, in a worst-case scenario, end that game and immediately start a new "test" game with the correct H/A to rescore from scratch (alert tournament officials if this happens). It's best to get it right before the first play.
- If "Swap Sides" is Unavailable or Issues Arise: While the "Swap Sides" feature should be available, if you cannot find it or it's not working before scoring begins, immediately alert a WBL Tournament Official for assistance. Do not proceed with extensive scoring if the Home/Away designation is incorrect.
For the Designated AWAY TEAM's Scorekeeper (Optional but Recommended):
- Once the game starts, verify in your GameChanger that your team is correctly listed as "Away" and the opponent as "Home" according to the coin flip. If there's a discrepancy, communicate with the home team's scorekeeper and, if necessary, a tournament official before significant play has occurred.
